Customer Manager

The Customer Manager is a salesperson responsible for being the sales expert for a designated Customer(s), providing strategic customer insights. The Customer Manager works to ensure joint business plans are executed by the customer. This role works closely with Key Account Managers (KAMs) within that assigned department, as well as order entry, claims, schematics, and retail sales associates to ensure all Client and Customer standards are met. The Customer Manager (CM) must possess the ability to bridge the relationship between the Key Account Management Team (KAM Team) and all stakeholders at assigned customer(s).

Our clients are defined as the manufacturers, vendors, or brands who have contracted Advantage as their sales force. Our customers are defined as retailers, wholesalers, or distributors, to whom we sell our clients’ brands. This teammate will collaborate with customers to develop strategic plans to accomplish the business goals and work with retailer associates (such as buyers, category managers, replenishment managers, and others) on Headquarter calls to implement the programs.  

Essential Responsibilities

  • This role is responsible for supporting the digital and eCommerce engagement and growth of our clients at Kroger.
  • Serve as the dedicated digital and eCommerce resource for the Advantage Kroger team, supporting a variety of suppliers and managing end-to-end digital and eCommerce business needs and execution.
  • Drive client business performance for Kroger by increasing distribution and growing sales dollars, units, share, and other key performance indicators while adhering to budget guidelines.
  • Manage and deliver recommendations to drive long-term eCommerce growth.
  • Plan, manage, and execute digital sales activations, including content audits, 84.51° media and loyalty programs, and digital coupon execution.
  • Act as the primary digital contact between Kroger, Advantage Key Account Managers (KAMs), and clients to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Secure and ensure timely, accurate responses from customers to support Advantage KAM teams and clients, including promotion forecasting and execution details.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Kroger digital category managers and support departments; partner with Advantage KAMs to recommend and execute growth plans.
  • Support tactical eCommerce business needs and provide guidance to ensure retail and merchandising compliance.
  • Attend and present in client planning sessions, customer meetings, and internal team meetings.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Kroger digital commodity standards and content guidelines relevant to assigned client categories.
  • Proactively manage and strengthen Kroger relationships, attending meetings focused on advancing both customer and client eCommerce objectives.
  • Develop and leverage relationships with key influencers and decision-makers within assigned customer account
